This is the second volume from the collection of Mandalas (the word means “circles” in Sanskrit). Mandalas have long been used to quiet the mind and achieve a profound feeling of bliss. The path to such bliss is found not simply by looking at or even by meditating on the ready mandala, but by actually engaging in the process of creating it. As you choose and apply colors, the mandala becomes in a sense the portrait of your mind and soul at the time when you color it. Just open this book and start on any page. We suggest that you start at the center of the mandala which represents the heart, soul and mind of the universe. Start at the center and let your hand and your selected tools—pens, brushes, or pencils—guide the process of creation of your mandala and acquire peace of mind and tranquility. You can find the first volume at amazon/Mandalas-Coloring-Quick-Stress-Relief/dp/1590459512
Tatyana Parovchenko, the artist behind this volume of mandalas, has been drawing for most of her life. We asked Tatyana what makes her work so good. “I am not sure that I’d call it work,” she answered. “For me, it feels more like a hobby and a way to relax. When I pick up a pencil, it opens for me a world of imagination and peace. My hand draws lines all by itself, intuitively. I love the shapes that reflect the forms found in nature. I have a feeling that it is Nature herself that guides my hand and creates the shapes. The most important thing is not to interfere, not to let some preconceived notion disrupt the intuitive connection between nature and the resulting shapes on the page.”
For a better view of the brain science side of the equation I recommend Laurence Steinberg's AGE OF OPPORTUNITY (although I part company with him too on a lot of his applications of what we've learned about teenage brain development). This book is a neat guide that talks about a master herb named Ashwagandha for various health ailments. Robinson is up there with the greats of all the centuries. Once again in my mind's eye I see my father, balding in his thirties, his Martin guitar across his knees, serenading me with songs of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl.. We are the stewards of this land and if we do our best to save as much of their habitat as possible, then we will be giving these plants the respect they deserve.?
