In addition to the techniques, the book teaches you to continuously look for "self defence potential" of each item you run across. I love how the book is short and to the point. Use QT or some other GUI framework for visualization.
Other quibbles:
Leave out the very brief summary of electricity. The causes of these differences and how to address them are not provided any coverage. A book that is highly technical with ample illustration, and discussion, of the evolution of various methods of rigging a ship of war. Worst of all, the author clearly states his allegiance to the old imperial system and his belief that the US should not move any further in the metric direction. I read this when I was a child and loved it back then. It almost is anticlimatic when the last 20 pages ( or last 2 chapter) is thrown at us. Lola Bird's name, become like a bird and fly away anytime I see her name on any book. I bought this as a treat for myself to add to my 'shoe-book' collection.
